Real Wedding: Menka & Krishan at The Four Seasons, Hampshire
A stunning venue, a gorgeous cake and the loveliest couple – all these ingredients (and more) came together in Menka and Krishan’s real Indian wedding last spring, at The Four Seasons, Hampshire.
This was a Hindi wedding for two Oxfordshire doctors who were the sweetest, loveliest couple and a real joy to work with.
The Four Seasons is a absolute stunner of a venue. It is a restored Georgian manor in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. I love working there, the magnificent surroundings lend a sense of grandeur to a wedding.
Menka, the bride, looked beautiful in an elegant pink sari, embroidered in delicate silver thread, her hands, forearms and feet painted with intricate Henna, an amazing art form in itself.
The groom, equally, had dressed for the occasion in traditional Hindi dress and looked every inch the dashing husband-to-be.
The Baraat, a traditional procession to bring the groom to the wedding ceremony, took place in the sprawling gardens of The Four Seasons, accompanied family and friends, brightly coloured smoke bombs and some fantastic Dhol drummers. Krishan, the groom, looked resplendent in his traditional safa (or wedding turban) and white robes as part of this joyful ritual to kick off the celebrations.
The Hindi ceremony took place in the hotel’s ballroom adorned in the MOST incredible floral work from Mistique Events.
The couple also held a separate intimate civil ceremony to make it official.
Then it was into the evening reception, where the ballroom had been transformed, by the fabulous Mistique Events, into a real feast for the eyes.
This couple applied such attention to detail with every element of their wedding and it really showed.
Their elegant, classic wedding cake was a visual focal point of the reception, and you definitely couldn’t miss it – all four delicious tiers of it!
The colour scheme of white and gold worked perfectly on their wedding cake, which was given even more height with a clear stand filled with matching white and green florals. It was flavoured with tiers of delicate, buttery red velvet sponge and vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream, alternating with moist double chocolate sponge filled with dark chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream. There was even a fifth tier back of house, of vanilla bean and white chocolate sponge laced with fresh raspberries for any fruit loving guests to devour!
The couple's wedding cake was finished in a sharp edged, bride white, chocolate ganache, decorated with bold white blooms, dark greenery and gold leaf detail.
It was such a pleasure to work with Menka and Krishan on their Hampshire country wedding, and I wish them all the joy in the world as they embark on their next chapter!
