Venue Spotlight: Weddings at Gate Street Barn, Surrey

In my opinion, there’s nothing else like a barn wedding. That rustic feel, with history literally coming out of the walls, and often in a stunning surrounding – perfection!
Gate Street Barn in Surrey is no different. This beautiful wedding and event venue is just minutes from busy Guildford, but you would never know it. Nestled in the Surrey Hills, Gate Street Barn is not only a working farm, but a very private place to host your nuptials.
Gate Street Barn’s ethos speaks directly to me, with its emphasis on sustainability, regenerative agriculture and rare breed animals. With a farm shop onsite too, you can be assured that the ingredients for your wedding breakfast are all super local.
The ceremony barn at Gate Street is absolutely beautiful, with exposed beams and plenty of light for those all important photos, plus a lovely long aisle for your entrance. There’s so much to explore at Gate Street for your wedding, with a huge number of flexible options for your day including a magical woodland wedding, an outdoor ceremony space called Farmhouse Avenue, and lots of onsite accommodation for the nights before and after the big day.
But let’s talk cake at Gate Street Barn, because it's one of my favourite venues. The rustic feel of the venue is ideal for a sustainable cake, perhaps semi-naked or covered in fresh flowers. Perhaps you could even add pressed flowers to the outside of your cake, bringing the outside in for your evening reception. This is the whole vibe of Gate Street, blending the traditional with the modern & sustainable – pretty much what Olivia bakes is all about too!
